                              Wrock Song of the Month

Wrock, otherwise known as Wizard Rock, is a Harry Potter fan phenomenon. It is basically a community of fans forming different bands to write and play music centred around the theme of Harry Potter. The original Wrock band was Harry and the Potters, but the most famous bands now also include Draco and the Malfoys, The Remus Lupins and Ministry of Magic.

Spells and Scars by Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls

Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls is one of my favourite Wrock bands, and I find that all of Christian's songs are of a great production as well as musical quality. 'Spells and Scars' is a rocky, catchy song from a Death Eater's perspective, and while it's not quite 'End of an Era', the fandom classic, it's still worthy of a place here.

Don't Leave by Ministry of Magic

Another song by Ministry of Magic, I think this is one of the best, with its great lyrics and electro-pop style. Ministry of Magic are probably one of the most prolific Wrock bands with a wide variety of different songs. If you aren't familiar with their work, you should definitely have a look at some of their songs!

The Ballad of Ron and Hermione by RiddleTM

I'm surprised that I haven't already chosen a song by RiddleTM, as they have to be one of my favourite Wrock bands. The band consists of Slytherin twins Victoria and Georgia from the UK, and they've written some amazing songs! The Ballad of Ron and Hermione is currently one of my favourite Wrock songs, as the lyrics are really sweet and it's such a great performance. The only reason not to like it would be if you are a Harry/Hermione shipper, though even then, you won't be able to help singing along!

                              Why? by Let's Lumos!

Why? is a song from a more unusual perspective - Petunia Dursley. I love the beautifully understated lyrics and the haunting melody. With spectacular vocals and a though-provoking subject, this is a Wrock song to remember. I stumbled across this song on YouTube, and had never heard of the band before, and I have to say, Let's Lumos! should be more well-known, and it puzzles me why they aren't. A fantastic song and a fantastic band.

Kiss Me (Hermione's Lament) by The Brothers Black

This Wrock song has some amazing lyrics, but the first thing you'll notice is that beautiful voice! It's a song told from Hermione's perspective by the band that sadly only produced three songs - Hogwarts Is Home For Christmas, Don't Wanna Be A Deatheater and Kiss Me. There may be few songs, but they are certainly worth the listen. It's great the way each song features one of the band members in particular.

End of an Era by Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls

June heralds the arrival of a new Wrock song of the month, and this time, it's the fandom favourite - 'End of an Era'. This classic Oliver Boyd song is known to be a heartwarming tale of our time in the Potter fandom as well as a bit of a tearjerker! Christian Caldeira, the sole member of the band, hails from Canada, and is a firm favourite in the fandom. The lyrics are fantastic and the melody, like all other Oliver Boyd songs, is well worth a listen.

On Thestrals' Wings by The Butterbeer Experience

May's Wrock song is called 'On Thestrals' Wings' and is by The Butterbeer Experience, another popular band in the Wizard rock world. Lena Gabrielle has an incredible voice and the lyrics of this particular song are fantastic. It is about Luna Lovegood, the dreamy Ravenclaw who helps to bring back Dumbledore's Army. 'On Thestrals' Wings' is from the album 'Accio Hot Guy'. Tell us what you think by contacting us!

The Curse by Ministry of Magic

The Wrock song of the month for April is 'The Curse' by Ministry of Magic. The band members include Luke Conard, Jason Munday, Aaron Nordyke, Ryan Seiler, Mark Jennings and Jeremy Jennings. They are among the most famous Wrock bands and have several albums out. 'The Curse' is a powerful pop-electronic style song with some great lyrics. 'Only Power Remains' and 'Gryffindor Rally Cry' are other excellent songs by Ministry of Magic. So, take a listen and tell us what you think!
